J. Brown + Draztic = S - Team

It’s another dreary morning in New York; I’m sitting in the office bored beyond belief sorting through the pile of new music on my desk, when I get a text.

“Yo!”

A simple soliloquy but one that always makes me smile! It’s from FOB (friend of the blog) Chan; I sit up in anticipation of the conversation and what’s to occur, I am hoping for a mixtape update instead I get another jewel. One of the former powerhouse groups of the now defunct, Psylent Entertainment Street Symphony has released an EP and we are the first to get our hands on it.

@jheneaiko Sailing Souls one musical art piece at a time

Jhene Aiko is an amazing artist, one with an abiding, deep commitment to lyrical honesty and musical integrity.  Simply put if Jhene feels it, she writes it, expresses it and sings it. There’s no pretense, no hiding, just vivid imagery, metaphors and distinctive poetic thoughts accompanied by emotion – she is what music has been missing.

What’s funny is – I have been a fan of Jhene for about 10 maybe 12 years; and with each new project that feeling is revitalized all over again. “Sailing Soul(s);” was released last year but the music is timeless from beginning to end it’s a solid mixtape that never gets old. Which is why I had to share it with you; it would be a crime not to. Check the download  under the cut!

@teyanataylor The Misunderstanding Of Teyana Taylor

Misunderstanding n. a failure to understand something correctly – Webster’s Online Dictionary.

What a perfect way to describe the complexity that is Teyana Taylor. Is she a singer? A rapper? A dancer? An actress? Or just that  a misunderstanding. For some of us we’ve followed Teyana from MTV to the big screen, yet we are still perplexed on who she is exactly. “The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor,” takes us on a voyage through the mind of not only an artist but a fan. It’s apparent in the mixtape Teyana is a fan of Lauryn Hill, and while some critics manage to use that against her we find it endearing.

But you be the judge. Check the mixtape out    here!
